Our Vision
To Transform Local Obstacles into Global Opportunities
Mission
World Solutions Initiative is a humanitarian organization focused on helping people enhance their quality of life and fulfill the potential of communities by providing sustainable access to clean water, education and economic opportunity.
Our Approach
Since we understand that health, education and economic prosperity are all intertwined; we've develop a systematic approach to ending the cycle of poverty.
Health: Make sure basic needs are met. This includes clean water, sanitation, shelter and nutrition. Knowledge: Help people in communities with communication, trade and business skills. Jobs: Employ locals for projects and administration. Commerce: Connect locals with companies, resources and people across the world allowing them to sell goods and services.
We strive to address the four major barriers that prevent people and communities from thriving: poor health, lack of knowledge, lack of gainful employment, and lack of commerce opportunities. When you make tools and resources more accessible to these communities; you eliminate major obstacles that hold them back while also empowering them to build better lives and futures.
Water and Health
What we’ve learned by working in countries with resource deprivation and inequality is that people fail to appreciate the correlation between one’s health and prosperity. People who are chronically ill due to water illness are simply not well enough to pull themselves and their families out of a cycle of poverty into a position of possibility. They remain in a perpetual state of vulnerability that prevents them from achieving their higher purpose. Illness remains a daily emotional and physical preoccupation. It is difficult to imagine having a fulfilling and life-sustaining livelihood when you spend hours of your life in constant pursuit of clean water for basic survival.
The growth of 1 in 4 of children in the world is stunted from malnutrition DUE TO WATERBORNE DISEASES.
One of the leading global causes of death in children under 5-years-old is diarrhea.
1.8 billion people globally (25%) drink contaminated water which transmits diseases such diarrhea, cholera, dysentery and typhoid.
In developing countries people spend up to 23% of their income to meet their water needs.
Education
There are many people living in disadvantaged situations who value the benefits of an education but are simply unable to attain one. Rudimentary arithmetic and communication skills are required for the development of commerce, infrastructure, and health. But the lack of trained educators, the scarcity of schools, and the high rate of illiteracy creates barriers that prevent communities from developing and implementing solutions to the many problems that plague them. According to UNESCO, nearly 17% of the world's adult population is still not literate.
Gainful Employment and Commerce
Due to lack of education, mobility, and access to global, economic opportunities; job opportunities are limited, even if people possess skills that have economic value outside of their community. This creates a vicious circle that further degrades the possibility of greater health and mobility.
